The morning after their wedding day, Kristi and Dave met me at a waterfall. There's nothing quite like sealing an elopement with photos on day one of the rest of your life together, and this session at Helton Creek Falls in Blairsville, Georgia, was an absolute dream hot cocoa and snuggles in the ferns, an early-morning dip with bare feet in the creek, and finally, standing under the falls with the biggest smiles I've ever captured on camera.
This was the shoot that tied everything together all the planning, all the mountain miles, their relationship, their friendship, their trust in each other and in the day.
Since then, we've heard from other couples who saw this session and felt inspired to take the leap themselves and go non-traditional for their own wedding day. We've since shot vow renewals, trash-the-dress sessions, and more couples under waterfalls across these mountains. It's one of my favorite parts of this work.
Why Book a Day-After Waterfall Session
A "day-after" session has become one of the most requested add-ons for elopement couples in North Georgia and North Carolina, and for good reason:
No time pressure. Your ceremony day is often packed. A day-after session means we're not racing daylight or a dinner reservation we can slow down and actually play.
A second location, a second look. Kristi wore her dress again at Helton Creek Falls, giving us a completely different set of images than the ceremony day, in a completely different setting.
More candid, less posed. By the morning after, the nerves are gone. What's left is two people who are relieved, happy, and completely comfortable in front of the camera.
Waterfalls are worth the extra day. North Georgia is full of them, and very few couples get real, unhurried photo time at one on their actual wedding day.
Like Wayah Bald, Helton Creek Falls sits on national forest land this time in the Chattahoochee- Oconee National Forest so it's the same easy, public-land setting that made the ceremony day work, just one state and one morning later.
