You don't need to have it all figured out.

With 25 years in these mountains, the overlooks, river spots, and hidden trails are all familiar territory — so you don't have to figure it all out alone.

Right now, planning your elopement might feel exciting… but also a little overwhelming. Where do you begin? How do you turn an idea into a real day?

That's exactly what this process is designed for.

Most couples reach out before they have everything figured out. All you really need is the beginning of an idea — and together we'll turn that spark into a clear plan that feels natural and true to you.

It's never too early (or too late) to begin the conversation.

What are you dreaming about?

What Working Together Looks Like

Not sure if it fits your budget?

That's completely okay - it's a question most couples start with

Every wedding day looks a little different, and the amount of photography coverage you need often ends up being different than what you first imagined.

Before you rule anything out, Emilie encourages couples to simply start a conversation.

She’ll spend time learning what matters most to you — the parts of the day you care about, how your plans are shaping up, and the kind of experience you want your wedding to feel like.

From there, she helps turn those ideas into a clear timeline so you can see exactly how much coverage makes sense for your day.

Sometimes couples realize they need less coverage than they expected.

Sometimes they choose a little more time so they can slow down and fully enjoy the day.

Either way, you’ll figure it out together.

INTIMATE, NATURAL AND DEEPLY MEANINGFUL WEDDING THAT FEELS RIGHT

Your wedding day shouldn’t feel like a performance.

It should feel like a day lived fully — surrounded by the people who matter most.

What you'll get is simple: real moments documented as they happen.

The way you reach for each other’s hands.
The laughter during the speeches.
The quiet in-between moments you didn’t even realize were happening.

It’s a story unfolding naturally throughout the day.
Presence over perfection.
Connection over posing.

Photos that bring you right back to how it all felt.

Elopements

YOUR DAY THAT FEELS QUIET, INTENTIONAL, AND TRULY YOURS

You’re here because the idea of a big, traditional wedding never quite felt right.

Instead, you’re drawn to something simpler.
Something meaningful.
A day that feels natural and unhurried.

Eloping gives you the freedom to slow down and choose what actually matters — whether that’s standing on a mountain overlook, walking a quiet trail together, or sharing the moment with just a few people you love.

This isn’t just about photos.

It’s about being fully present in a place that means something to you, while your story is documented honestly as it unfolds.

Because the beginning of your marriage deserves to feel as real and unforgettable as the mountains around you.

What couples are saying

  • Five-star review from Micaela and Eric — destination wedding in Blue Ridge, GA photographed by Appalachian Wedding Photography

“She is probably the only photographer we have dealt with that is kind, understanding, and gives you a warm and comfortable feeling when she is taking pictures.”

“My now husband and I had a destination wedding in Blue Ridge, GA on 10/17/25. From the moment Emilie walked in to start capturing photos her personality and energy was amazing. She was everything we expected and more in a photographer. Prior to the wedding she was always open to suggestions and communicative if we had questions, going over the timeline of everything, or even struggling to figure the details we wanted captured. She went out of her way to capture unique photos and take advantage of the scenery (overlooking the mountain tops and sunset) so we could have our desired shots. Honestly if we lived closer we would book her in a heartbeat again. Both of our families haven’t stop complimenting how great she is!!”

  • Five-star review from Miranda and Greyson — Blue Ridge Georgia mountain wedding photography by Appalachian Wedding Photography

“She captured the day beautifully with natural photography rather than posed portraits. Incredibly she finished editing our entire album in 4 DAYS!!!

“Emilie is absolutely fantastic! She reached out immediately after I submitted my interest form and was continuously responsive even after the wedding day. Emilie went above and beyond ensuring our day flowed seamlessly without feeling rushed. Her and Christian made our wedding one for all to remember forever. Thank you THANK YOU!!!”

    — Miranda & Greyson

  • Five-star review from Greg and Stephanie — sunrise mountain wedding photography in Blue Ridge, Georgia by Appalachian Wedding Photography

“Emilie had a fun, peaceful and calming vibe that put everyone at ease. “

“My wife and I were extremely pleased with the entire experience. Emilie captured several great moments and memories on our wedding morning. Thanks for your willingness to be on site before sunrise, climb rocks and jump rushing river sections to snap our amazing photographs! We would definitely recommend Appalachian Wedding Photography.”

  • Five-star review from Myranda and Rob — intimate mountain wedding photography by Emilie Gates — Appalachian Wedding Photography

“Honestly, now that I think about it, our wedding planning in general was a mess until we spoke with Emilie and she got the ball rolling!”

“Working with Emilie was one of the best decisions we made for our wedding! From the beginning Emilie worked with us to ensure we got every shot we wanted within a timeline that worked for us. At the wedding she made sure everyone was comfortable, having a good time while maintaining a firm hand and keeping us on time. We also had some struggles with an inexperienced DJ that almost took us out of the moment. Emilie picked up on it immediately and stepped in to get things back on track THANK YOU QUEEN
Rob and I have also never been the best at staying natural in front of the camera but with Emilie it was so easy and our photos are absolutely beautiful. Cannot imagine our wedding without her! Much love and thank you again!”
