Bryson City Wedding Photographer: Capturing an Intimate Winter Wedding at The Everett Hotel

An Intimate Winter Wedding at the Everett Hotel in Bryson City, NC

Nestled in the heart of Bryson City, North Carolina, Kahle and Paddy’s wedding was a perfect blend of small-town charm and heartfelt celebration. Their story began in 2019 when they met on a beach in Saint Kitts while working as yacht crew. Though they spent only three days together, they stayed in touch for years, their paths finally aligning in 2022. By 2023, they left yachting behind to focus on their family business and a new family farm, bringing their love story full circle.

The ceremony took place at Saint Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, established in 1941. With its stunning rockwork and rich history as the first Catholic church built on the Cherokee Indian Reservation, it offered a truly unique and sacred setting. Afterward, the candlelit reception unfolded at the beautifully restored Everett Hotel. Despite the freezing temperatures, the day was filled with warmth, love, and laughter, making it an unforgettable experience.

A Picturesque Small-Town Setting

The day began with the guests strolling through the charming streets of Bryson City to the church. Saint Joseph's Roman Catholic Church’s timeless charm provided the perfect backdrop for Kahle and Paddy’s heartfelt exchange of vows, including the meaningful sacraments that were deeply important to them. They were married by Father Peter Shaw, a dear family friend, making the ceremony even more special and personal.

The Everett Hotel: A Unique Reception Venue

The Everett Hotel, originally built in 1908 as the Bryson City Bank, is a stunning example of historic charm blended with modern elegance. Renovated by owners Ron and Scott in 2015, the building now features rustic design elements that highlight its storied past while offering contemporary amenities. This up-and-coming venue in the Asheville and Western North Carolina area is perfect for intimate events.

The hotel offers 10 well-appointed rooms, including options with city views and signature accommodations, ensuring comfort for all guests. Its full kitchen and bistro serve as the heart of the venue, providing delicious meals and cocktails for events. The owners catered an incredible dinner, including lobster bisque, filet mignon, and mushroom risotto. The warm glow of candlelight and the impeccable hospitality of Ron and Scott created an inviting and memorable atmosphere for Kahle, Paddy, and their loved ones. Special thanks to Kyra, the bartender, who added to the charm of the evening.

Capturing Unforgettable Moments

As the photographer, I had the incredible privilege of documenting Kahle and Paddy’s wedding day, capturing every detail and emotion. The bistro floor transformed into a dance space where the couple shared their first dance to “You’re in My Heart” by Rod Stewart. Sweet, spontaneous moments unfolded throughout the day, from heartfelt speeches by family and friends to private serenades on the hotel’s historic staircases. One of my favorite moments was photographing Kahle and Paddy as they cuddled by the firelight on the rooftop lounge, a romantic retreat under the moonlight.

The day was filled with meaningful details that reflected their love story. Kahle’s jewelry was a testament to family and tradition; her diamond and pearl teardrop earrings were passed down from her mother, worn originally on her parents’ wedding day in 1997. She also wore a custom-made pearl choker, lovingly created by her Aunt Juju from J. Mills Studio. Paddy proudly wore his Afghanistan Operational Service Medal and the Queen Elizabeth Diamond Jubilee Medal, honoring his service in the Royal Marines Commandos. Paddy wore medals he earned while serving in the Royal Marines Commandos, and Kahle’s veil, inspired by the 1930s Juliet cap style, added a touch of vintage elegance. Her bouquet, adorned with white roses, ranunculus, and greenery, included a blue crystal heart and a penny from her dad as sentimental good luck charms. Even the cufflinks carried a story, as a last-minute delay led to Paddy wearing Kahle’s late grandfather’s gold cufflinks, adding a deeply personal touch.
