Forest Wedding at Fall Creek Falls TN State Park Wedding Photographer
Rob & Myranda’s DIY State Park Wedding in the Mountains
In the quiet wilds of a mountain forest—just on the edge of where the trail meets the trees—Rob and Myranda threw a wedding that was more family reunion than formal affair. Their day wasn’t about seating charts or fancy timelines. It was about love, community, and the two of them choosing each other in the most honest, heartfelt way.
A Love Rooted in Hard Work and Huckleberries
Their story began the way the best ones do—completely unexpectedly. Back in 2016, in a dusty fire hall basement in Livingston, Montana, they met on day one of a wildland fire season. Myranda had left Omaha to pursue a life of public service and hard work in the outdoors. Rob had left Dallas for the same dirt-under-your-nails mission. What followed were long workdays, sawyer debates, and summer nights filled with huckleberry picking and laughter.
By 2017, friendship turned into something more—sparked by a Texas wedding road trip and a snowy airport pickup that changed everything. Since then, they’ve weathered distance, demanding jobs, and multiple cross-country moves, all to carve out a life rooted in the natural world they love so fiercely.
Today, they live in the mountains of Western North Carolina, where Myranda burns, sprays, and dreams of trailwork as a dedicated wildland firefighter. Rob, a forester, wanders the woods with a deep sense of peace and purpose. Together, they’ve built a life in Murphy with a white picket fence, a garden, and a very lazy wolf dog. (Perfection.)
A Wedding That Felt Like Home
When it came time to plan their wedding, Rob and Myranda did what they’ve always done: kept it real. They didn’t want fluff or flash. They wanted forest. They wanted friends. They wanted that special kind of magic that happens when people gather outside and let the wind tangle their hair and the fire pit warm their cheeks. Their wedding felt like the best parts of a state park elopement and a backyard family cookout combined. Guests came ready to hug, laugh, and dance—and that’s exactly what happened.
A Dress the Forest Whispered Into Existence
Let’s talk about the dress. Myranda wore the most stunning embroidered gown we’ve ever seen—a real-life forest fairy moment. Delicate flowers covered every inch like they had grown there overnight. She didn’t just wear the dress; she belonged in it. It was soft, bold, and wildly beautiful—just like her.
For the Nature-Loving Couple
If you’re dreaming of a wedding or elopement that feels more like a weekend in the woods with your favorite people than a traditional venue affair, take a page out of Rob and Myranda’s playbook:
Embrace DIY wedding touches like potluck meals, wildflower bouquets, or campfire ceremonies.
Choose a location in one of the stunning state parks in Tennessee, North Carolina, or Georgia—places where love feels bigger under the trees.
Prioritize connection over perfection.
Make your wedding about who you are, not who someone else says you should be.
Let’s Plan Your Mountain Celebration
Rob and Myranda’s wedding reminds us that the best celebrations are the ones that reflect real love—gritty, joyful, firelit, and free.
If you’re planning a mountain wedding, elopement in a state park, or a DIY celebration surrounded by nature, I’d love to help tell your story.
Reach out, and let’s make it as wild and wonderful as you are.
